See you, Space Cowboy

Today is the two-year anniversary of my youngest sister's death.

Two years ago I learned a couple of things.
Rather than publicly grieve and subject my loyal readers (all two of you) to the worst form of catharsis (self-pity), I'm going to share the handful of lessons I learned, with a brief explanation.

1. Make memories.
-When you spend time with loved ones, make it count. My best memories usually involve joking around and me entertaining my sister by making an ass of myself.

2. Don't resent family members who are terminally ill.
-Sounds simple, but when you have a close relative who has been sick for more than a year, it's easy to get frustrated.

3. For those in Christ, there is nothing to be afraid of.
-I had to watch my 15 year-old sister face death like a warrior to realize that I was a coward. I had to experience death to become unafraid.

4. God is glorified when sick saints are healed; God is glorified when sick saints die well.
-This was the hardest to learn.

We miss you, Katie.
